Homeownership Program » Family Selection Criteria
Are you ready to own a Lafayette Habitat for Humanity home?
6. Are you WILLING TO PARTNER with Lafayette Habitat for Humanity? As part of the program you will be required to spend a minimum of 300-450 hours helping to build Habitat homes, including your own. Construction takes place Tuesday-Saturday. You will also need to attend required homeownership classes. If you (and your co-applicant, if you have one) answered "no" to any of these questions, you may not be ready to be a Habitat for Humanity homeowner. You can call the Lafayette Habitat office at 337-261-5041 to discuss your situation in more detail. If you answered “yes” to all of the questions, you might qualify for our Homeownership Program. Please also see our Frequently Asked Questions and our Homeowner Selection Criteria for more details about our selection process. If you would like to apply for the Habitat Homeownership Program, complete the online interest form to be notified of the date, location, and time for the next Applicant Orientation Meeting. Lafayette Habitat for Humanity is pledged to the letter and spirit of U.S. policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity throughout the nation. We encourage and support an affirmative advertising and marketing program in which there are no barriers to obtaining housing because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, age, marital status, sexual orientation, or sources of income. ![]() |
