Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Lafayette Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people of all faiths and races to develop communities for people in need by building and renovating houses, creating homeownership opportunities.

Mayor Linda Hardee of Kaplan, with Melinda Taylor, executive director of LHFH, helps break ground on our 12 home subdivision for 12 families devastated by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

We are pledged to the letter and spirit of U.S. policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity throughout the nation. We encourage and support an affirmative advertising and marketing program in which there are no barriers to obtaining housing because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, age, marital status, sexual orientation, or sources of income.
